He disclosed that the telecoms were shut down after gaining approval from the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isah Pantami but then, affected council areas remain the most vulnerable to bandit attacks in the state.

The network ban is effective in Dange Shuni, Tambuwal, Sabon Birni, Raba, Tureta, Goronyo, Tangaza and Isa local government areas amongst others.

Isa local government area shares boundaries with Shinkafi LGA in Zamfara State. Goronyo and Sabon Birni from west and north respectively have borders with the Republic of Niger in the east.

In other news, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Onyema Nwachukwu revealed that there is a massive recruitment of members into the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

During a tour of the Hadin Kai theatre command in Maiduguri, Borno State on Sunday September 19, the spokesperson made this disclosure.

Nwachukwu called on all Nigerians to be very careful while entreating the media to stop the recruitment.

He said;

“I will like to mention that the ISWAP, very recently, haven been depleted by the surrendering of their member, as well as and conflict between them.

“They have embarked on what I will call a massive recruitment drive and I consider it very important to engage the media to block this recruitment.

“The Boko Haram insurgents have been surrendering. People have questioned the authenticity of the surrendering of these insurgents and why they are surrendering at this time.

“There are also the questions on the reintegration of these insurgents. Another question is what the plight of the victims of the insurgency is.

“That is the essence of this tour. The military is not resting on its oars in the fight to end insurgency and insecurity in the country.”
